Merry
Christmas!!
From Romandachs!
CH Romandachs Son Of The
Wave MWP
Dylan gets an "Award of Merit" at the Alabama Dachshund
Club specialty, a
show for DCA (Dachshund Club of America) 2006 in Pine
Mountain, GA.
MANT Thanks to my BEST Friend, Mentor, co-breeder
of the litter
and Dylan's handler, Sherry Whitt.
I am SOOOO Proud of him!!!
Of course MANY Thanks to breeder judge Ann Harrison
for taking note of and awarding
the AOM, based on what she saw in Dylan.
Dylan takes a Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Variety
at the Columbus, IN
Dachshund Specialty under Canadian Breeder/Judge Guy
Jeavons, then he went on to take
Best of Opposite Sex to Best in Specialty Show!! Excellently
handled by co-breeder
Sherry Whitt. I can't THANK her enough!
Sherry owns Dylan's sire CH Duchwood's
A First For Me MS, Crosby.
She bought him, showed him, campaigned him and then
selectively chose
dams that she felt would further promote him in the
Dachshund world.
She has gotten NOTHING but Grief from Crosby's breeder.
Sherry was
put down heavily and openly on internet forums for
doing this breeding, yet this breeding
and the Champions finished out of this breeding made
Crosby a #3 Top Producer
for 2004. There were 5 puppies in the litter and 4
that went on to get their
Championships all of which were Owner/Breeder or Owner
Handled.
Sadly, Dylan at 4.5 yrs of age
is completely blind from a hereditary disease
afflicting dachshunds, which
is PRA. Progressive Retinal Atrophy is a Simple Recessive
disorder of which Dachshunds
do not have a DNA marker to identify the disease in
our breed. I am working with
Michigan State University in hopes of finding the markers
for PRA in Dachshunds. If we
can find the markers, we can, over time, irradicate the disease.
We need affected dogs to donate
blood samples and cheek swabs to Michigan State.
The more samples they have the
greater chance of finding the genes causing the problems.
If your Dachshund goes blind
or starts to have vision problems, take it to a Vet Opthamologist
qualified to do Eye CERF exams,
find out if it is PRA. If your dog has PRA, it will eventually
go blind, if it lives long enough.
Some hae late onset PRA, others have earlier onset PRA. Even
Dylan's PRA is considered late
onset, His Grandfather, Milo (Dominos Texas Livewire MW) has
PRA as well. On April 1 2008,
he will be 9 yrs old and although he has some vision problems
which are hard to detect (I
only notice because I know he has considerable retinal degeneration
based on an ERG exam. Why Milo
continues to have vision at almost 9 yrs of age and
Dylan is completely blind at
4.5 yrs of age is currently unknown.

Romandachs Rising Stars of 2007/2008
International Jungsten CH Romandachs
Indiana Girl MWCP
CH Romandachs Son Of The Wave MWP x
Romandachs Chocolate MNM MS
"Indy"
Indy has already went Reserve to a 4 point major in
her first show
at just 6 months, 1 week. She is a pretty bitch and
one of three
very nice bitches in her litter. Indy has her first
4 points.
FLASH!! Indy got her first major under Betty Stenmark
at the Wentzville, MO shows
the last weekend in January. She now has 10 points!
Indy's first litter kids, Lady Di, Stoney and Coal are pictured below.
Indy's sister Madison
Romandachs Madison V Sherricks MW
is owned by Sherry Whitt and now has 10 points
toward her Championship.
She is a Beautiful Girl!!
Sherry is looking for a Breed home for Madison once
she finishes her Championship
if interested, click the email link below.
Pictured above picking up her second major a 3 pointer
while at the
Columbus, IN shows, Sept 2007. Madison has been shown
on a very
limited basis and has done very well. Her first litter
of pups
are on the ground now. There are two male wires available.
They look OUTSTANDING!

Romandachs Midnight Truffles MS
CH Englelong Ozzie MS
x Romandachs Chocolate MNM MS
Truffles has 2 points toward her Championship
Peegee looks just like her Daddy Ozzie.
Peegee resides with Cindy Rentas
Tyme went Winners Dog at NMDC, June 2007
The judge was Carlos Puig a well respected Professional
Handler.
Had this been a show with points he would have gotten
a 4 point major.
Tyme weighed in under 11 lbs as all Miniatures at EXPO
have to weigh 11 lbs and under.
Carlos gave Tyme the once over a few times before
giving him Winners Dog, then an
Award of Merit. I am VERY Proud of him!!
Romandachs Diamond In The Scruff MW
CH Romandachs Bacardi MWCP
x Romandachs Indiana Girl MWCP
Lady Di and her brother Stoney
Lady Di, is back here and being shown by me.
She now has 8 points and both majors toward her Championship.
Here she is in Florida getting her first major.
Lady Di tends to be on the FAT side a LOT. I guess
she overeats a bit...LOL
Here she is with her brother Stoney in June 2007,
the shows right before NMDC.
Di picked up a major and Stoney picked up his first
point.
Romandachs Romancing The Stone MW
CH Romandachs Bacardi MWCP
x Romandachs Indiana Girl MWCP
Stoney will come back out in 2007. He is still on
the skinny side and a bit
tubey, but I am sure in 3 months he will fill out
quite a bit.
Stoney
I took Stoney to Two Specialty Shows in Ohio on September 7th & 8th
and an All Breed show on September 9th. He picked
up 3 MAJORS and
13 points toward his Championship (An AKC Championship
requires 15 points and 2
Majors from at least 2 seperate judges) Stoney needs
1 single point to finish his Championship!!
Here he is the first day getting a 4 point major under
judge Neena Vancamp
He got Best of Winners
I have been showing Stoney strictly in the Bred-By Exhibitor Class.
Here he is getting his 5 point major under Susan St.
John Brown
He got Best of Winners and Best Bred-By in Specialty
Show.
At the All-Breed show the major broke in Wire Dogs
but that didn't stop
Stoney, he went Best Of Breed/Variety, Best Of Winners
over two specials
to get a 4 point major under June Penta.
I got LOTS of compliments on him!
Romandachs Ole Lump O' Coal MW
CH Romandachs Bacardi MWCP
x Romandachs Indiana Girl MWCP
Coal resides with Cindy Rentas. Coal picked up a Major
in Columbus, IN
Sept 2007. He now has 5 points toward his Championship.
Lady Di, Stoney and Coal are the first offspring
of both Indy and Bacardi.
What a KNOCKOUT Litter!! Watch for them in 2007!!
I am Sooooo proud of him, he was shown in the Bred-By
Exhibitor class
Angeldox Hoover Constellation MS
This is an OUTSTANDING boy with phenominal movement.
It seems that Hoover is often the Prince instead of
the king.
Hoover went Reserve to a 5 point major at the OH Specialties
in September 2007, then went Reserve to the 4 point
major the next day
(Solo, above, was Winners). FINALLY he got Winners
Dog on the 3rd day
for 2 points. Unfortunately, one dog was missing and
it broke the major.
Hoover is a VERY nice boy.
His two girls out of his first litter will be out
showing next year!
Shay Shay, the foundation bitch for my Piebald Breeding
Program, This is
Shay with her 3 daughters from her ONE and ONLY registered

Rosie, Shay, Maggie and Cinder
Maggie is the only Champion of the litter, she is
a Canadian and American Champion, she has
2 Champion Offspring.
Rosie has a 5 point major and a 3 point major but
HATES to show. She has 2 Champion Offspring.
Cinder has 1 single point, she got her Junior Earthdog
title in one weekend, She has her ROM
(Register of Merit) and Qualifies for her ROMX (Register
of Merit Excellent) She was the #3
Top Producing Wire Brood Bitch in 2005 and has 5 Champion
Offspring and counting!!
I have bred 12 (7 white or white factored) Champion
dachshunds and
8 CH pointed Dachshunds, 3 of which are Piebald or
Irish Spotted carrying Piebald!!
I have finished 2 Champions which were not of my breeding
and I have a
couple more CH pointed. I have a few others out in
show homes that have
not entered the ring yet, and I have a few babies
waiting in the wings for maturity.
